0.7.1 - Procedural maps



Hello there!

Great news – LowPolis has billions of levels for you now!
While maps are bigger now too, performance stays in great shape.
We've used some magic behind the camera to make rendering smarter.

You can expect to see some quality-of-life chages too.
Yeah, everything's available in the demo. Enjoy!

Added:

  • Procedurally generated maps with level parameters (map size, forest area, tree density)
  • More city names available at the game start

Changed:

  • Games begin with city hall placement
  • Defensive structures can be built freely outside of the construction zone
  • Storehouses use improved rules for managing their workers
  • The way of rendering objects in the scene has been optimized
  • The former main map is now a training level (the tutorial itself will eventually get an update)
  • Game menu has received an update
  • A preview image is now generated for a game save
  • The stone bridge model has been updated
  • Minor graphic improvements (construction/destruction cursor states and changes to particle effects)
  • Minor game balancing

Fixed:

  • Camera work during automatic focus on structures

What's going to happen now?

We're going to take a look at the tutorial and try to make it more welcoming and helpful for new players.
Even with current improvements LowPolis can be demanding at times. Well, you know us – optimization is our soft spot.
The most interesting thing to come next?  We're set on getting the refreshed battle mode back to the game!
